"Laura Moore’s new Silver Creek series starts off on the right foot.
Once Tempted is a sweet and tender romance that will pull you in and won’t let go. A cast of lively characters with witty dialogue will leave you eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
Tess Casari’s estranged husband has recently passed away and she feels the need to get away for a while. Her friend Anna comes up with a plan to help Tess find just the right destination. With a map and a blind fold, Tess points her finger and it lands on Acacia, California. Tess then decides to pack up and head for Acacia.
Once she reaches Acacia, Tess starts looking for a job. She is pointed in the direction of the Silver Creek ranch. When she arrives at the ranch, her car is on its last leg. It is spitting and sputtering and blowing out black smoke. To Tess’ chagrin a man walks up to the car and puts his hand in the window and shuts the car off. The infuriating man turns out to be the ranch owner's son Ward. To say the least, Tess and Ward are off to a rocky start.
Luckily for Tess, Wards mother Adele Knowles, is looking for an assistant and she hires Tess on. At first Tess has a hard time with ranch life. She has always lived in the city and has never really been around animals. Ward is only too happy to show Tess what living on a ranch can be like.
There are sparks between the two from the beginning, but they are both afraid of trying a relationship again.
They both agree on a friends-with-benefits type of relationship and at first it seems like all is going well for the couple. But as time goes on, it is apparent that the two have feelings for one another. Just when things start to look sunny for the couple, Ward’s ex-fiancée steps into the picture and decides that she wants Ward back. Will Ward and Tess’ love for one another be strong enough to combat a woman on a mission to win back her ex-lover?
Ward is a sexy, seductive, brooding cowboy. He is just what Tess needs in her life. He is compassionate and insightful. His love for Tess is apparent in all that he does for her. He and Tess have sexual chemistry that sizzles and sparkles.
Tess is a firecracker waiting to go off. She is brave beyond compare. I don’t know many people who would drive cross-country all alone to start over.
Tess deserves the love of a good man and Ward certainly fit’s the bill.
If your looking for a deeply satisfying love story that is hard to put down, look no further than
Once Tempted. Laura Moore writes an unforgettable tale that will keep you entertained throughout. You will be left with a smile on your face!"
"Events planner Tess Casari packs up all of her belongings and heads out west to California (from Queens) to start anew following the painful demise of her marriage and later, her husband’s death. She ends up at the Silver Creek Ranch (sort of an eeny-meeny-miney-mo action with a map). Ward Knowles, the oldest son of the family owning the guest ranch, is the first person she meets and it definitely wasn’t insta-love.
Tess is hired on by Ward’s mother as her personal assistant and later the events planner for the ranch. She thinks he’s arrogant (he is a bit) and he thinks she’s too much the city girl (she is). Publicly they trade barbs but privately they acknowledge their attraction. Both think they want a casual relationship (he was seriously burned) with no strings attached.
Everyone on that ranch works very hard and Ward is a true cowboy…wrangling cattle, working horses and delivering baby lambs. He always planned to work on Tess and was pretty honest about it. It took time and the development of the relationship is expertly woven into every aspect of the story. I loved both of these characters and their romance. The conflicts they faced related to their pasts, including a nasty ex-fiancée who added some real spice. Part of the charm was experienced through Tess’s indoctrination to ranch life, capped off when she transitions from high heels to her first fancy cowboy boots!
Despite its slow start, this story was pretty wonderful. Ward is delicious, representing cowboys really well. Tess is no slouch either and shows her skills in adapting with ease from life in the city to that on a ranch. The romance develops nicely without a lot of angst or silly conflicts and when it ramps up…oh, my. You’ll learn a lot about how a guest ranch works, too."

"Book one in Moore's Silver Creek series, Once Tempted introduces us to the Knowles family, owners of the Silver Creek Ranch. Ward, the eldest of the three Knowles Children, is smarting from his broken engagement to a would-be gold digger. Enter Tess Casari, a dyed-in-the-wool New York event planner seeking refuge after her brief, disastrous marriage and the death of her ex-husband. They're like oil and water at first. But their chemistry is undeniable, and eventually they embark on what they think is a no-strings-attached affair. As they live and work together, however, those pesky strings start appearing, and the bond between them grows stronger until their pasts come back to threaten it.
Moore has a way with words, and she paints a beautiful picture of ranch life. Ward and Tess' journey from sworn enemies to life-long lovers is filled with highs and lows, peppered with witty banter and melt-your-panties sexual tension. Add to that a rich and wonderful cast of secondary characters, including Ward's mother, Adele, who does her best to help the pair along, and his siblings, smooth-talking Reid and animal-loving Quinn, and you've got a tale fans of contemporary western romance are sure to enjoy. And there's more to come in the next book in the series,
which should be
out in early
"There is so much to love about ONCE TEMPTED.
Everything from the way that the characters
interact with one another, to all of the animals
who reside on the ranch is perfectly executed in
the expert hands of Laura Moore. I couldn’t have
asked for a more perfect story to read. The
romance is super hot and the sex is off the
charts. If you love to read Western romances
with a flair for seductive cowboys and sweet as
well as shy heroines, then you won’t want to
miss this stellar novel."
"...Not only is Ms. Moore’s book a great read
for those who love Westerns, it also works like
a guest pass for those who only like to visit
them. Readers will love watching Ward introduce
Tess to the possibility of blending her city
girl upbringing with her new country life. There
is plenty of scorching romantic tension and
fresh conflict for city and country readers
alike. As the first book in a new series, it
will be interesting to see what Ms. Moore has in
store for the Knowles bunch."
Coffee Time Romance
"I loved this story because I was immediately pulled into this storyline. I was so saddened to find out that Tess Casari had to go through what she did with her failed marriage, then the death of her estranged husband. I believed the best thing for her to do was to start a new life somewhere else. I personally chuckled when Tess allowed her girlfriend to blindfold her, spin her around and then had her randomly chose a destination on the map with her finger as to where her new home was going to be. I had hoped that being in a new place was the best thing right now for her. She deserved a fresh start and picking Silver Creek, California was a step in the right direction. When she secured a new job as an assistant to Adele Knowles, one of the owners of Silver Creek Ranch and Resort, I loved the immediate connection Tess experienced while meeting Ward Knowles, Adele’s eldest son. Ward would do anything to make certain the family’s ranch was successful and now meeting this beautiful woman named, Tess, made him start wondering why he was feeling the way he was. Of course, these feelings didn’t happen overnight, which was something I truly loved about this storyline. Ms. Moore took her time and allowed her characters to get to know each other before allowing them to even think about attempting something more serious between them. If you’re in the market for a feel good cowboy story, don’t pass this one up!'
Night Owl Reviews
"I'm a longtime fan of Laura Moore's writing, and I'm excited about the new Silver Creek trilogy. Book one,
Once Tempted, satisfied this city girl's fascination with cowboys and the ranch lifestyle. When I read Laura's books, I'm transported to the peaceful countryside with ranch homes and barns dotting the landscape.
Once Tempted has all that and more.
Tess Casari has been through a brutal year. She found out her marriage was a sham and her ex-husband, David, was dying of a brain tumor. Her ex-in-laws, though they loathed Tess, paid her to stay by David's bedside until he died and to disappear before the funeral. She took the money but only to put it in trust for the institutional care of Christopher, her severely autistic brother. Tess leaves New York and her event-planning job to drive to California. She arrives at the Silver Creek Ranch to apply for a job just in time for her used car to break down and spew smoke.
Ward Knowles, oldest son of the owners, is outside when she arrives. For safety reasons, he turns off her car, and it dies. Tess calls Ward a car killer, and this first scene with them is hilarious. I love smart-mouth banter, and they both have the talent for it!
Ward is a pure alpha male but is so nice and gentlemanly, although he does enjoy needling Tess. She tries to avoid him at all costs because she is done with men for now. Ward and Tess have undeniable chemistry, and it's a matter of time before they give in to it. Ward and Tess decide to embark on a no-strings relationship, but as they work together and share quiet morning afters, their bond strengthens.
There is a wonderful cast of characters. Tess ends up working for Ward's mom, Adele, who uses her best matchmaking tricks to throw Ward and Tess together. Ward's brother, Reid, is a charmer, and his sister, Quinn, is a force with a great sense of humor and a soft heart for rescuing animals. The first time Tess meets her, Quinn is wearing a shirt that says, "There are more horses asses than horses in the world." As event planner for the ranch, Tess works well with the staff. Just as Tess is starting to believe that life can be fulfilling and that she deserves to be loved by Ward, both their pasts come back to haunt them. It will shake Tess' fragile comeback and Ward's trust, but the ending is very satisfying."

"ONCE TEMPTED is a sexy new read by author Laura Moore that not only gives us a tantalizing tale of undeniable love but also is a great start to a new series that's sure to speak to contemporary romance lovers everywhere...
ONCE TEMPTED had a great plot. Tess and Ward had so much chemistry watching them navigate each other was quite amusing. I also liked the way that the author worked their pasts into the story.
The secondary characters, especially the rest of the Knowles family, were also rich and well-developed. I cared about them as much as I did the hero and heroine. Also, there were animals on the ranch that played a big part of the story that rounded it out and made the world that was the Silver Creek Ranch so much more believable...
ONCE TEMPTED is a solid four star read for me. I enjoyed the book from beginning to end and was sad to close the back cover when I was done. This is my first novel by author Laura Moore, but it won't be my last. I liked her voice and pacing for this story and can't wait to see what happens next on the Silver Creek Ranch."
The Romance Reviews
"I LOVED visiting Silver Creek, like a book by the awesome Robyn Carr who always makes me want to visit Virgin River, I want to visit Silver Creek. Laura writes characters that make me feel, as I said before I need to become wrapped up in the story AND I need to feel something for the characters. Even if I don't like them that is a-ok, I am FEELING. Usually yelling or muttering at the book too.
Tess is someone you like, someone you feel for. She grew up with heartache, and her big heart got her in trouble as she fell in love with the....WELL.....YOU gotta read. How she wound up at Silver Creek is pretty cool, as I said in my review. Tess and her bestie Anna are women I could see me sitting on the couch drinking wine with, well I would drink Margarita's they would drink wine. AND when she gets to Silver Creek....the sparks ignite. Her dialogue at times had me sighing, others grinning wide. AND Ward...HAWT DAYUM..... He brings her sassy...ness OUT! The whole family brings the story tightly together and I am eagerly awaiting more from Laura and Silver Creek.
YOU all know how passionate I am about the authors I LOVE. Laura is a true talent and I am honored to say a good friend. Books are an AWESOME way to get away. There is no better vacation than opening a GREAT READ and falling into that space and time. I STRONG SUGGEST ya'll check this book out. YOU will not be disappointed."
Bitch Can Write a Book
"Ward Knowles, the hero of Laura Moore’s
Once Tempted, the first book in her new Silver Creek series, may seem far removed from the classic cowboys of my youth, but he shares some essential qualities with them.
First, he loves the land. Even though Silver Creek Ranch is clearly a twenty-first century setting with its emphasis on sustainable ranching and the high teas, hot stone massages, and the destination wedding venue it offers its paying guests, the land has been in Ward’s family for nearly a century. And he is committed to the ranch’s success and to seeing it preserved for future generations of Knowles...
...Moore shows Ward’s concern about the ranch’s cattle, his care for the goats, his skill and gentleness with birthing sheep and newborn lambs, but he is at his most spectacular with the horses. Tess is impressed with his patience and coolness as he moves to safety Tucker, an abused horse his sister has rescued...Later, the sight of Ward training Bilboa, a quarter horse, leaves Tess breathless: “She had no idea what he was doing, only that it was complicated and exceptionally beautiful.”
The storied cowboys were
quintessentially masculine—laconic, courageous,
take-charge, protective alphas. Ward fits the
pattern in this respect too. His “cool reserve
and dark, brooding good looks” are among the
first qualities Tess observes, but even that
observation comes after her recognition that he
is accustomed to taking action and giving
orders. She thinks of him as “Mr. Ward Knowles,
High and Mighty Ruler of the World.” It takes a
bit longer for her to become aware of less
irritating qualities. She sees his tendency to
take action without taking a survey differently
when she learns that quality once led him to
save his best friend’s life, at considerable
risk to his own. His compulsion to take care of
his family and friends eventually encompasses
...Physical appeal is part of the iconic cowboy image too, and Ward is no slouch in this department. Tess appreciates his appearance in a pair of well-worn jeans, finding him “delicious.”...Clearly Ward is the perfect cowboy hero for a twenty-first century romance.
Heroes and Heartbreakers
"You know what I love most about book blogging, well, besides getting to read all I want? I find some really great authors. Laura drew me in with the western type theme and kept me hooked through her excellent writing and storyline. And it's a western type story. I love those!
p class="style34">TTess dumps everything in her old life (after her marriage crumbles) and moves to a completely new area where she knows no one. That in and of itself is a brave thing to do. Upon arriving at the town that was picked at random from a map, seriously, she is on a mission to get a job lined up so Tess can stay. Well, being a small town and a crappy economy, there are no jobs to come by but she is directed to check out the ranch just outside of town. Soon after arriving on the property, she sees this sexy work hand running towards her car which decides at that point to take the drive to the car cemetery in the sky and is convinced that this man is the one who broke it. Ok so I know girls don't generally know about cars but for someone so smart, shouldn't she know that what she is accusing him of was complete crap? Honestly, this was really the only thing that bothered me about the book. May be just because I have a general knowledge of cars. But I will say it was pretty entertaining throughout the book when she would call him a car killer. Lol. As it turns out though, the sexy car killer is the owners' son. Whoops. Still doesn't mean he isn't a car killer. ;)
Jilted by a gold digging wench, Ward has thrown himself into the ranch. He doesn't have time for women. Especially not the quiet woman his mother hired as his assistant. But then he finds himself constantly seeking her out to ruffle her feathers. When his best friends want to get married on the ranch in a short amount of time, Ward and Tess are forced to work together and that's when we see the sparks really start to fly! I am glad that at this point, we start to see Ward open up some more. It sucks to be hurt so much by someone that you make assumptions about a person that isn't true from a past experience. But that to me proves that he is a really good person with a good heart.
p class="style34">I can honestly say that I will be on the lookout for more Laura Moore novels. Love me a good contemporary/western romance! They melt my heart. :)"
Redheads Review It Better
"If you are a fan of contemporary western romances, then you are going to love Once Tempted, the first novel in Laura Moore’s Silver Creek series. This fast-paced novel is a beautifully written love story between a sexy cowboy and a city girl who have both had their hearts broken in the past...
...The romance between Ward and Tess is slow growing and full of sexual tension. It takes place over several months and I like that they take the time to get to know one another. But with so much emotional baggage along with their trust issues, when trouble arrives in the form of Ward’s ex-fiancée, it does not take long for their insecurities to drive them apart.
Laura Moore’s Once Tempted is a charming novel with a delightful cast of well-developed characters. Some of the plot is a little predictable, but it never detracts from the overall story. The issues between Ward and Tess are resolved fairly quickly and without an excessive amount of angst. An entertaining story that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next book in the Silver Creek series."
